New Delhi: Union Power and Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal inaugurated the National Feeder Monitoring System (NFMS) Control Center at REC Headquarters in Gurugram on REC Limited’s 55th Foundation Day.

Minister of State for Power and New and Renewable Energy Shripad Yesso Naik, REC CMD Vivek Kumar Dewangan, and top officials from the Ministry of Power, REC Limited, and RECPDCL were also in attendance.

The Ministry of Power’s flagship initiative, NFMS, provides real-time access to extensive information on power supply hours, outages, and the overall condition of about 2.5 lakh feeders (11 KV outgoing) nationwide.

This system will allow stakeholders to make informed and actionable decisions, increasing transparency, efficiency, and accountability in distribution utilities (DISCOMS), ultimately enhancing the quality and reliability of power supply to end users. The project comprises the integration of master and transactional data from 87 Discoms.

A control center in Gurugram’s REC Corporate Office set up under the initiative monitors daily data dissemination to Discoms, ensuring accuracy and efficiency, and assisting in maintaining Ministry KPIs.

The Union Minister congratulated REC on its 55th Foundation Day, stating that the National Feeder Monitoring System Control Centre demonstrates the country’s commitment to improving power distribution and management, enhancing grid efficiency and ensuring reliable power supply for citizens.

The control center would monitor and analyze real-time data from different sources while ensuring data integrity in the NFMS portal. It will use innovative technology and software to collect, process, and present operational information while working directly with key stakeholders.

RECPDCL, a subsidiary of REC Limited, has developed the NFMS for monitoring the quality and dependability of power at the national level, with the ultimate goal of ensuring 24×7 continuous power supply.
