ONGC pays tribute to former Chairman and Managing Director S K Manglik

ONGC paid homage to its former Chairman and visionary leader MrSushil Kumar Manglik, who left for heavenly abode on 1st August 2018 at the age of 81 years.
After completing his engineering from Banaras Hindu University, MrManglik joined as a drilling assistant in 1958. Through his sheer grit and determination, knowledge and technological prowess, he moved up the rank fast. He was instrumental in setting up India’s first cryogenic LPG Plant in Uran and the first Gas Sweetening Plant in Hazira and Sour Gas EPS in the South.
MrManglik took over as Member (Technical), ONGC in July 1987 and was appointed as Chairman in February 1993. He steered the Commission to be transformed into a Corporation in February 1994. He focused on optimizing production of hydrocarbons, Self-reliance in technology, Promoting Indigenous efforts related to equipment’s, materials and services in Oil & Gas sector, Conservation of Hydrocarbons and Environment Protection. He was also a great proponent of generating adequate resources for re-investment and developing scientific & technically competent Human resource through welfare measures, motivation and training.
While paying tribute to MrManglik, Mr Shashi Shanker, CMD ONGC said “MrManglik belonged to the genre of leadership that has left indelible footprints for others to follow. His knowledge, wisdom, dedication, courage, commitment and confidence are the jewels in the crown glory of ONGC. MrManglik was the first to have taken up many initiatives sailing through seemingly insurmountable challenges and constraints to take the company to a newer height year after year”.
