New Delhi: At the States’ Policy Conclave 2024, organized by PHDCCI under the theme Paving India’s Green Path for Sustainable and Inclusive Development, Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge), emphasized the importance of collaboration between states, the central government, and private stakeholders to drive progress.

The conclave held here on Wednesday brought together policymakers, industry leaders, and stakeholders to discuss sustainable development and investment opportunities.

Dr. Singh highlighted the untapped potential of India’s marine resources and the Himalayan region, urging integrated efforts to harness their value. He emphasized creating industry linkages from the outset to design sustainable systems, citing the success of initiatives like Startup India and the Deep Sea Mission.

State Perspectives on Green Development
Dr. Shamika Ravi from the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister stressed the need for green GDP models, biodiversity valuation, and compensating states preserving forests. She called for policy interventions to balance growth and sustainability.

Madhya Pradesh’s Additional Secretary Sanjay Kumar Mishra highlighted the state’s solar energy progress and conservation efforts, with 64% of districts under forest cover. Similarly, Chhattisgarh’s Investment Commissioner, Ms. Ritu Sain, showcased the state’s industrial potential, emphasizing affordability, resource availability, and sustainability as investment drivers.

Industry Collaboration and Policy Integration
Speakers like Mr. Anil Gupta of PHDCCI and Mr. Amitabh Ranjan from IIPA underlined the need for green technologies and renewable energy adoption to achieve carbon reduction goals. Visa’s VP, Mr. Anand Jha, shared initiatives on digital payment adoption and skill development for the tourism sector, aligning corporate strategies with sustainability objectives.

The event concluded with the launch of PHDCCI’s States’ Performance Indicator Report, spotlighting the critical role of states in driving India’s green and inclusive growth trajectory.
