SIDDHARTHNAGAR, Uttar Pradesh: Union Minister for Power and Housing & Urban Affairs Manohar Lal today laid the foundation stone for a 1,000-seat community auditorium in Siddharthnagar, a project aimed at strengthening the district’s cultural and civic infrastructure.
The auditorium is being developed with financial support from REC Limited, which has committed ₹7.02 crore under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative. REC, a Maharatna Central Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Power, is joined by Power Finance Corporation (PFC) and NTPC in funding the project.
Officials said the facility is designed to accommodate a wide range of cultural programs, public gatherings, and educational events, and is expected to be completed within a stipulated timeline.
Senior executives from REC, including the Executive Director (CSR), attended the foundation ceremony alongside local officials and community members. Residents welcomed the project, describing it as a long-awaited investment in the district’s public amenities.
“The new auditorium will serve as a platform for artistic expression, knowledge sharing, and community engagement,” said a senior REC official. “This initiative underlines REC’s commitment to inclusive development through infrastructure that benefits the wider public.”
The initiative aligns with broader efforts by CPSUs to channel CSR funding toward high-impact projects that contribute to regional development.
