New Delhi :Schoolnet India, in collaboration with the Global Learning Council (GLC) and Villars Institute (VI), has unveiled groundbreaking educational initiatives targeting democratized global learning with a focus on emerging economies. These include a nationwide EcoInnovators Ideathon, capacity-building partnerships with the International Baccalaureate (IB), and a course on climate leadership for middle schoolers.
At the Ideathon Grand Finale held in New Delhi, over 800 schools competed to tackle environmental issues using AI, IoT, and robotics. Focused on emerging economies such as India, Brazil, Rwanda, and Kenya, the collaboration aspires to impact 10 million students over the next five years through technology, innovation, and systemic change.
Team Vanguard from Delhi Public School Electronic City, Bengaluru, emerged victorious with a project that earned them the opportunity to showcase their work on a global stage at the Villars Symposium in Switzerland. Finalists and quiz participants received cash prizes totaling Rs 1.5 lakhs.
The Ideathon also saw participation from over 250 students from Delhi/NCR schools, who engaged in an interactive quiz powered by Schoolnet’s AI-based Geneo app. The event highlighted the potential of emerging technologies in addressing global challenges and fostering creativity among students.
Beyond the Ideathon, Schoolnet and GLC-VI launched two impactful initiatives:
- Educator Empowerment with the International Baccalaureate (IB): Aimed at introducing IB programs to private schools, hosting orientation seminars for educators, and providing access to professional development resources, this partnership fosters high-quality education aligned with global standards.
- Climate Leadership Course for Grades 6–8: Co-developed by GLC-VI and Schoolnet, this course promotes environmental stewardship, emphasizing systems leadership and planetary boundary principles to inspire future climate leaders.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Sanjay Kumar, IAS, Secretary, Department of School Education & Literacy, praised the innovative ideas presented, emphasizing the importance of emerging technologies like AI and IoT in solving global challenges. He underscored the role of partnerships in scaling such initiatives to benefit students nationwide.
Keynote speaker Dr. Tariq Al Gurg, CEO and Vice Chairman of Dubai Cares, shared his vision for global education reforms and expressed enthusiasm for extending these initiatives to the MENA region in collaboration with GLC-VI and Schoolnet.
Dr. Subra Suresh, Founder and President of the GLC, commended Schoolnet’s leadership in implementing GLC’s vision in India. He emphasized the role of intergenerational collaboration in nurturing sustainability mindsets among students. Dr. Suresh also expressed interest in working with India’s central and state governments to scale these programs.
RCM Reddy, MD & CEO of Schoolnet India, highlighted the alignment of these efforts with India’s National Education Policy and Schoolnet’s broader mission of democratizing education. “By leveraging advanced technologies and fostering global-local partnerships, we aim to impact millions of students, creating a brighter future for generations to come,” he remarked.
The event not only celebrated the innovative spirit of young minds but also set the stage for scalable, tech-driven educational transformations with global implications.
