NTPC REL wins bid for 80 MW floating solar project in Madhya Pradesh

New Delhi: New Delhi: NTPC Renewable Energy Limited has been selected as the successful bidder for 80 MW of floating solar capacity at Omkareshwar Reservoir in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh.

Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited (RUMSL), a joint venture of Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) and MP Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd., conducted the bidding. The discovered tariff is 3.80/kWh, and the project’s energy will be used by MP state DISCOMs.

With the completion of this project, NTPC’s floating solar capacity will increase to 342 MW. The largest Floating Solar project in the country has a capacity of 100 MW and is located in Telangana at NTPC Ramagundam.

NTPC Group currently has 3.3 GW of operational renewable energy capacity and 20 GW of renewable energy capacity in the pipeline, including a 4 GW Energy Storage System and the country’s first Green hydrogen-based PNG blending project.

NTPC is dedicated to achieving 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032, as well as being a major player in Green Hydrogen Technology and Energy Storage.
