HARIDWAR: IndianOil Chairman A.S. Sahney formally launched Phase X of ‘Parivartan – Prison to Pride’ and Phase VII of ‘Nayi Disha – Redefining the Future’ in the presence of senior state government officials and prison authorities across multiple locations in India.

Both initiatives, launched on August 15, 2021, and January 26, 2023, respectively, are designed to rehabilitate incarcerated individuals through structured sports training and competitive opportunities. The latest phase will extend IndianOil’s outreach to more than 1,000 individuals across 22 prisons and five children’s correctional homes.

“Our most significant achievement through these initiatives is reinforcing the belief in second chances,” Sahney said. “By offering professional sports coaching and facilitating participation in national and international tournaments, we aim to instill discipline, purpose, and optimism in the inmates, empowering them for dignified reintegration into society.”

State government representatives and prison authorities expressed appreciation for IndianOil’s impactful intervention, highlighting its role in equipping inmates and youth in correctional homes with valuable skills that enable meaningful contributions to society.

Since their inception, these initiatives have reached over 200 correctional facilities, benefiting more than 10,000 individuals across 29 states and union territories. Their success is underscored by notable achievements, including gold and bronze medals at the World Chess Federation (FIDE) tournament last year.
