AZAMGARH: The administration in Azamgarh division of Uttar Pradesh has been coming up with new humane initiatives to offer assistance to poor and the needy, hit by lock-down since March 24 last month.
A team of police officials led by energetic Range DIG of Azamgarh Subhash Chandra Dubey toured many areas falling under Azamgarh district including Kotwali police station area, Rani ki Sarai and Sighari and took stock of the situation last week.
The DIG also distributed food assistance packets, made available under Annapoorna scheme floated jointly by police and public, among hundreds of needy people in Rani ki Sarai area. The packet contains rice,flour, cooking oil, salt,potato etc.
Accompanied by Azamgarh Divisional Commissioner Ms Kanak Tripathi, Mr Dubey also visited the shelter home and community kitchen at Azamgarj and held discussion with the railway protection force in Azamgarh.
While advising people to adhere to the lock down guidelines, the officials also instructed the police to strictly enforce it and take suitable action against the violators of the lock down.
