New Delhi : Noida International Airport (NIA) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) have signed an agreement to build a dedicated aviation turbine fuel (ATF) pipeline from BPCL’s Piyala Terminal to the airport’s tank farm, which will meet ATF demand while lowering carbon emissions.

The specialized ATF pipeline spans 34 kilometres, including 1.2 kilometres on airport grounds. Once built, this pipeline will work on a common/contract carrier basis, guaranteeing that fuel is carried smoothly to the airport.

BPCL’s Chief General Manager, Marketing, Sujit Kumar and NIA’s Chief Financial Officer, Nitu Samra, signed an agreement in the presence of various executives.

This common-use gasoline transportation network, which aligns with Noida International Airport’s commitment to environmental stewardship, will simplify fuel-receiving operations while also reducing emissions by removing the need for tank lorry transfers.

In a statement, BPCL Director (Marketing), Sukhmal Jain, stated that BPCL has been a pioneer in establishing ATF facilities at airports and other infrastructure in India since the country’s aviation business began.

He emphasized BPCL’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions by minimising the road transportation of fuel and fostering a more sustainable future.

Echoing this sentiment, Noida International Airport Chief Operating Officer, Kiran Jain, said the airport is collaborating with BPCL to develop a common-use fuel transportation pipeline, with the goal of reducing carbon emissions and increasing efficiency, in line with their strategic vision of providing cost-effective, sustainable solutions for liquid fuel transportation.
